The Central Library of VU (CL) operates in the authentic spaces of the 16th century. Alongside the old buildings and courtyards of the university, the Library is an integral part of the Vilnius Old Town architectural assembly. When visiting VU Library, visitors are usually impressed by the spectacular Franciszek Smuglewicz Hall, Joachim Lelewel Hall, the old Observatory (the White Hall), the cosy reading rooms, and leisure areas. A magnificent panoramic view of the city can be seen through the windows of these spaces.

Surrounded by a pine forest, the other division of the Library located in Saulėtekis is the Scholarly Communication and Information Centre (SCIC). It is a modern and advanced part of the Library, a three-block structure that harmoniously blends into the nature. Its light forms and bright colours resemble another division of the Library that is situated in Šiauliai — the Šiauliai Academy Information Centre (ŠAIC).

Regardless of its location in different buildings and even cities, VU Library maintains its integrity throughout the entire organisation. It is an open and flexible space for study, research, and communication, where each visitor finds a study space that meets his or her needs. We invite you to explore these spaces virtually by browsing the collections of this photo gallery.
