On Thursday, May 14, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, visited Lithuania. During the visit, S. Innes-Stubb, together with Lithuania’s First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, also visited Vilnius University and its library.
The guests were welcomed by the library’s Director General Irena Krivienė, Dean of the VU Faculty of History Assoc. Prof. Dr. Loreta Skurvydaitė, VU Vice-Rector for Organizational Development and Community Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vilmantė Pakalniškienė, and Director of the VU Library Department of Research and Heritage Collections Nijolė Klingaitė-Dasevičienė.
On this occasion, library staff invited the First Ladies on a short tour, during which they showed them the P. Smuglevičius Hall and presented several rare documents preserved in the library related to Finland, symbolizing the close cultural and historical ties between Finland and Lithuania.
Later, a meeting with VU Scandinavian studies students took place in the J. Lelevelis Hall, and the visit concluded with a short walk through the University’s most beautiful courtyards.
S. Innes-Stubb is a lawyer who in recent years has been engaged in academic work and teaches business law at Aalto University in Finland. Finland’s First Lady has a strong interest in education, responsible business, and international affairs.
