On 22 March of 2023 Vilnius University Library in its Smuglewicz Hall hosted an international scientific conference "Academic Vilnius: the Culture of Thesis in 16th-18th Centuries". This event served as a conclusion of a two-year project dedicated to the research, digitisation and opening to the public the old dissertations from Vilnius University.
Various experts and researchers, many years practicing in the fields of bookbinding, history of culture and heritage, have made their presentations in the conference. Among them also was the President of the Republic of Lithuania Dr Gitanas Nausėda - an enthusiast, collector and researcher of historical books and their culture.
