Exhibition “Historia naturalis: Natural Sciences at Vilnius University, 1781–1832” opening

On Tuesday, an exhibition opened its doors in the P. Smuglevičius Hall of the Vilnius University (VU) Library: “Historia naturalis: Natural Sciences at Vilnius University, 1781–1832.”

Specialists from the VU worked tirelessly to select, prepare, and describe remarkable exhibits that will spark imagination and curiosity all the way until autumn.

Speeches at the opening event were delivered by VU Rector Prof. Dr. R. Petrauskas, Library Director General I. Krivienė, Life Sciences Center Director Dr. A. Lubys, and Head of the VU Herbarium Dr. M. Rasimavičius. The exhibition was introduced by the library staff who curated it – Dr. V. Girininkaitė and B. Zorkienė.

In this exhibition you can explore the rich history of the department and the personalities connected to it. The documents on display are complemented by minerals, as well as exotic shells, colorful butterflies from distant regions of Australia and Oceania, and other eye-catching exhibits.
